Branding
Alongside a complete website overhaul, I also played my part in the re-branding of the company with a focus on their logo abstract.
The board at Mergers Alliance had outlined the importance of showcasing three elements in the logo, these are; being global, data driven, and a network of people. Alongside those important targets, the abstract needed to incorporate the abbreviation 'MA' or the company name itself.
During the logo development process many ideas were evolved and showcased (some examples down below), the board were happy with the logo designs, however indecisive as a group on which to continue with. Eventually the logo shown below was their preferred route.
To accompany the logo I selected typography and a new colour palette which was a more subtle variant on their pre-existing colours.

Guidelines
Brand guidelines were developed to showcase to the client and any future designers how they should handle the new Mergers Alliance brand and assets.
The client has a history of producing brochures and other print resources for clients to read. Therefore I also worked on a full redesign on some of their print work to ensure they had a template to reference for future print material. This included image use, graphs/charts, and avatars and contact details. View an example here.
Alongside these guides a very important PDF was created which showcased all content blocks used throughout the new website in a stripped back fashion. All image on this guide are labelled so that the client can easily distinguish what image resolutions they need to work with when they upload new imagery to the site.

Photo Manipulation
It was important to have strong photographs to accompany website content. Throughout the design you will find we use photographs for headers and to accompany content.
I was responsible for editing all photographs and icons throughout the site and ensuring they work for all the different resolutions needed.
For website headers, images were manipulated to appear in different 'layers', including a striking foreground and a faded white background. For the headers these photographs needed to work at full width resolutions, so I had to get creative and manually edit these photographs. Sometimes this even involved merging several photographs into one seamless image (as shown below).

UX & UI Design
The most important aspect of this project was the new Mergers Alliance website. With the brand in-mind, the website and its several pages were designed to reflect the client and their goals.
Alongside another UX designer I designed all of the necessary pages with consistent elements to reinforce the brand. Whereas supporting elements were also edited and designed, such as; logos, images, and icons.
This website design was created and prototyped using the Sketch UX Software.

Developer Hand-off
After the design and prototype had been completed a separate file was worked on which is essentially a stripped back version of all content blocks from the design.
Here text and colour styles are labelled, whereas other elements and their states are showcased such as buttons or image resolutions.
This was then uploaded to the Marvel Software so that our developers could easily bring the designs to life with all the necessary tools at their disposal.

Summary
The website redesign and brand identity were created for the Mergers Alliance group to fit specific needs / goals. I had followed a specific process which ensured the client was happy, and that our developers had all the tools to easily bring the designs to life.
